American Maltese Association Rescue (AMAR) became a 501(c)3, national, non-profit organization in 2012. We’re 100% volunteer and  provide adoption services for Maltese surrendered by their owners, found homeless, or who are pulled from shelters. Approved foster homes are utilized to care for these Maltese and Maltese mixes, some of whom were abused, sickly, and homeless, until such time as an adoptive family is approved. AMAR pays all of the medical bills for every dog we rescue, including, but not limited to spay, neuter, diagnostics and dentals. AMAR also provides support and information to Maltese owners dealing with behavioral and health concerns, as well as education to the public on breed characteristics.

American Maltese Association Rescue cannot survive without donations. The majority of our funds are spent on medical bills for the rescue dogs we take in.  All our members are volunteers and we’re foster-based, so none of our donations go to salaries or facility rent.

GENERAL DONATIONS

AMAR has some dogs who are considered Special Angels, also known as Forever Fosters. They’ll remain foster dogs, under AMAR’s care, for the remainder of their lives. Special Angels, often seniors, usually have serious long-term medical or emotional issues like diabetes, Cushings or doggie dementia. Your donations help us pay their medical costs.

PLANNED GIVING

Estate planning, or legacy gifts, have a meaningful impact on American Maltese Association Rescue and our ability to save, and care for, at-risk Maltese in the future. AMAR welcomes many different types of planned gifts, such as a charitable trust, including  AMAR in your will, or listing us as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement fund.

In memory and in honor gifts are personalized ways for you to pay tribute to, or acknowledge, a special person or pet who touched your life. They’re meaningful ways to help American Maltese Association Rescue continue our mission to save at-risk dogs.
